Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The 1.5% tax donation is a provision in Poland that allows taxpayers to allocate 1.5% of their personal income tax (PIT) to a registered Public Benefit Organization (OPP). Instead of going to the state budget, this portion of your tax supports charitable and community activities.

Any taxpayer in Poland who files a personal income tax (PIT) return, including employees (PIT-37), self-employed individuals (PIT-36), and business owners (PIT-28, PIT-38), can allocate 1.5% of their tax to an OPP organization.

PoTA operates in cooperation with a registered Public Benefit Organisation CIL (Centrum Inicjatyw Lokalnych). The 1.5% tax contribution is processed by the Polish Tax Office in accordance with applicable law.

You can support PoTA by entering the KRS number 0000215720 (Centrum Inicjatyw Lokalnych) in field 151 of your tax declaration form. Make sure to include “Fundacja PoTA” in the “Cel szczegółowy” (specific objective of donating 1.5% of tax) field 153, and check the box in field 154 (I agree for providing the PBO with information on 1.5% of the tax) to confirm your donation.

No, the 1.5% tax donation does not cost you anything extra. This amount is deducted from the tax you already owe to the government and redirected to a charitable cause instead.

The standard deadline for filing PIT tax returns in Poland is April 30th, every year. Make sure to submit your declaration before this date to ensure your 1.5% tax is allocated correctly

The 1.5% tax donation plays a crucial role in supporting PoTA’s community-driven initiatives. The funds collected will be used exclusively for cultural, social, and charitable activities that benefit the Indian community and the broader society in Poland.

Your contribution will help PoTA:

  • Support charitable and humanitarian initiatives, such as our food donation camps for homeless people, ensuring that the less fortunate receive nutritious meals.
  • Arrange community welfare programs, including assistance for families in need and collaboration with other cultural organizations.
  • Conduct educational programs for children, including Telugu language classes to help preserve our heritage.
Promote Telugu arts, music, and literature through events and workshops.

By allocating your 1.5% tax to PoTA, you directly contribute to making a positive difference in the community. Every donation, big or small, helps us continue our mission of preserving culture, fostering unity, and giving back to society.

Yes, if you and your spouse file a joint tax return, you can still allocate 1.5% of your total tax. However, both of you must agree on the recipient foundation and enter the same KRS number in the tax declaration.

You can visit the official Polish tax office website for guidelines on PIT filings. Additionally, PoTA will provide instructions and assistance to community members to ensure the correct allocation of the 1.5% tax.
